Thanks for the post and your honesty and vulnerability in sharing those stories. I'll confess you are somewhat of a 'rockstar' in my life. And It's not that I've got any of your albums (books). And I haven't been to any of your concerts (seminars). And I don't even listen to (read) all your songs (articles). It is that what you write resonates with me and gives inspiration and awareness to find and create a joyful path through and with these times. And for what it's worth... your post made me think of this wisdom from Pirke Arboth - Ethics of the Fathers... "You are not required to finish your work, yet neither are you permitted to desist from it. If not now, then when? If not I, then who? Cheers, Phil

I am new to this forum. I too explored similar topics when I was 15. A friend of my aunt left a bookshelf full of similar titles. The books fed my soul. It was an awakening for this little Catholic girl. I have continued to explore and observe . We desperately need wisdom at this dark time. Thank you for this post

Thank you for this. This is becoming my life purpose also, although at the age of 65 I have left it rather late. Your comments about learning are particularly interesting. We have a similar programme in the UK to the one you mention, “Who Do You Think You Are?” and it is revelatory to see public figures with a carefully curated image come face to face with shattering stories from their past. I don’t know if it’s shown in the USA, but there is also a wonderful series presented by the Black historian David Olusoga called “A House Through Time” where he explores history through specific buildings in various cities over recent centuries. In the one airing currently over here, he compares the histories of the residents of two apartment buildings in London and Berlin up to and throughout the Second World War. Absolutely essential viewing.

So true....thx for this... "That platitudes and memes asking us to be humble, evolve as leaders, be more vulnerable, be authentic, be curious, have purpose, take action, and so on—are empty and ineffectual without the relational homes that can support, nurture and enable our growth. And this includes, most importantly, the relationship with ourselves"
